About Me
One educator trying to make a difference
My name is Gena McClatchy
This is about an educator who saw a need and wanted to make a in the way professional development is delivered. This jumpstarted a year of planning and collaboration creating the concept of Education Practicum, which gives teachers tools they can incorporate quickly and easily. I desired to break the mold of the way professional development is being delivered. I am really excited to get started on this new venture and strive to create something that is warm, inviting, and relatable. The slogan truly fits the mission: Education Practicum - putting education into practice, not just another training!

Get to Know Me
A true teacher at heart with 20 + years experience, Gena received an Associates Degree in General Studies from Lone Star College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Radio/Television/Film, with a Minor in Broadcast Journalism from Sam Houston State University. Gena earned a Masters Degree in Education Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix, and is currently a Doctoral student at Liberty University. Gena began her career in education teaching English, video production and print journalism to high school students. Moving into school leadership, Gena served as an assistant principal, associate principal, principal, and special education coordinator. She is a servant leader who strives to guide those she works with to meet the pinnacle of success and believes every decision made should be centered around what is best for kids.
With a vast background in education both as a teacher and leader, she decided it was time to start giving back to teachers. Teaching just seems to be getting more and more challenging with each passing year which is what led Gena to want to give back to the career she has loved. She wants to make a difference for teachers, she wants to know that teachers have access to all their questions without ever having to worry about what others might think of them. She wants to make teaching just a little easier for the professionals that give their all to their students everyday. She has been blessed beyond measure over the years to have had extraordinary mentors that helped her along the way, now it’s her turn to pay it forward.
Gena has one son who is also a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a bachelor’s degree in Communication. He is now married with a 2 year old son, and is enjoying a successful career as the marketing manager for a Fire Engine distribution company. Gena enjoys spending time with her family, playing with her grandson, and playing tennis.
